Páll Óskar - Þá mætir þú til mín - 2016

Project Overview:
This was the second music video released from Páll Óskar’s Kristals Platan era, created to maintain momentum after the success of the previous single. The lyrics explore longing, desire, and emotional chemistry, and the visual concept translates these themes into bold, symbolic imagery. Drawing on 70s and 80s aesthetics; neon, sparkles, kaleidoscopes; the video blends queer fantasy with a family-friendly appeal that resonates with Páll Óskar’s broad Icelandic audience.

Recognition :

Praised in Icelandic media for its playful neon aesthetic and Pride-inspired visual identity. Described by fans as “classic Páll Óskar energy; colourful, queer, and joyful,” it became one of the standout visuals of the Kristals Platan era.

My Contribution:

• Co-directed and edited the full music video.

• Developed the visual concept based on themes of desire, chemistry, and taboos, transforming them into symbolic, stylised imagery.

• Integrated Páll Óskar’s Reykjavik Pride unicorn motif as a central visual element, adapting it into dancer costumes and graphic transitions.

• Led the shoot as director of photography, sourcing the location and shaping the lighting style.

• Collaborated with a graphic designer to create the neon transition elements and sourced digital assets for compositing.

• Delivered the full project in approximately two weeks, including revisions.

Creative / Technical Notes:

• Produced on a tight schedule tied to Reykjavik Pride, with only about six hours of shoot time across two days.

• Designed a hybrid retro aesthetic combining practical lighting with digital kaleidoscopic effects.

• Worked within a limited budget, requiring in-house solutions for transitions, graphic elements, and set styling.

• Captured all performance footage with minimal crew, keeping choreography and camera movement fluid despite time constraints.

• Managed rapid post-production, including compositing of neon motifs and rhythmic editing to match the song’s energy.
